I thought that today there was an interesting stationary narrow North-easterly rain line that according to the Rakaia Radar extended from in the Pegasus Bay area in a Sw direction. This giving Christchurch a grey day of occasional thick drizzle showers. I got up to 6.2mm to 10pm this evening from 9am this morning.
The interesting factor was that this narrow band of precipitation stayed in position all day.
Further out there was not much rain/drizzle whatever at all. Check Steven Grahams weather station also the airport
Periods of rain for most of yesterday out near Akaroa, when forecast was only for drizzle. Wet again on the peninsula early this morning - rain around Akaroa; low cloud and drizzle from Birdling's Flat to Taitapu. Chch, however, is dry but with low cloud persisting.
Sure was coastal yesterday but still stayed dry here until 6pm last night when the rain came down nice rainbow about 4pm to the SE with those belts of drizzle/light rain showers going through.
Cheers
JASON.

As usual in these situations Wellington is doing well, lovely cloudless Saturday and mild dry Sunday. Still OK today after a few showers overnight - broken cloud, some sun and very little wind.
