Re: General March Weather
Noticed visibility has been excellent while out walking in the neighbourhood the last few days. Perhaps the drop in air pollution really is making a noticeable difference.

Re: General March Weather
Another 'virus' day here today. What I mean dull and overcast with a lack of sun.
Anticyclonic gloom in some ways.
The sun hasn't shone since last Thursday.
...but mind you it does keep people inside and at home.
....anyway an overcast day with occasional showers and rain with 20.1mm falling today.
Mild, though, with today's maximum at 16.7C with light NE winds bringing rain to areas around the house not exposed to wetness when it does rain.

I noticed the same thing. Wondering if just the current weather pattern / the origin of the air or if are seeing a real effect from this historic situation.David wrote:Noticed visibility has been excellent while out walking in the neighbourhood the last few days. Re: General March Weather
Here in Swanson, sudden heavy rain here from a buildup - I'm not sure if it was a heat build up or convergence. Nearly 10mm in a few minutes!

Saw that buildup on a quick walk at lunch - looked CB size. Surprising given the forecast of "Fine" for today.

Horray!
The sun has popped out today, first time since this lockdown thing started, but it is still rather cloudy.

Re: General March Weather
Nice day today with 25C at Ardmore Airport, also at Grey Lynn.
Observed Whenuapai sounding today, taken about the same time as that isolated cb occured nearby. Unstable to 6500m, cloud was big enough to produce thunder.

I think the month was less humid than normal for Auckland so a cooler feel than normal regardless of maximum temperature.

Re: General March Weather
I suspect this may be largely driven by overnight minima? Have been some cool nights around area I’m in (Pokeno) and I’ve seen a few down south too. Days have remained warm here though.
Feels like a scorching day here (following a beautiful few days recently). Hard to believe it’s the equivalent of October in the U.K. now, and the sun is only two months and 21 days from its weakest point.
