First Cicada of the summer season

Heard the first one today during my lunchtime walk in the Tank farm reserve. Nice to hear one of the earliest cicadas I've ever heard! To me it is a classic sign of things warming up.

Out in Little Schoal bay was a windsurfer, later when I was back at my desk two kite surfers joined him out there - they were doing some hell jumps! Looks like fun but not quite my cup of tea!

Good indication of an early summer?

I noticed that our young oak has started a few leaves compared to our young Ash. These trees to be planted at our new place in West Melton
Remember the old saying:
If the Oak is before the Ash we're in for a splash
If the Ash is before the Oak we're in for a soak

UV Indicies rising to 9 over the North Island on Friday, as we should see a combination of light winds and clear skies.
