I see airport has got 0.2mm in last hour again. Must be something to do with the dew.
I get that in my rain gauge from a heavy dew or frost melt in winter on fine clear days.
After a cool start, it was a lovely fine sunny day with it getting up to 21.7C. Light NE.
I see the Metservice site has gone berserk on the rain outlook for Auckland, with over 100mm of rain tomorrow evening, with 50mm in an hour after midnight Tuesday Will be interesting to see if that verifies, hasn’t been very reliable over the past few rain events.

I've been wondering when I will finally break my record of 36.4mm in one hour
That record has stood for 10 years now, and I've come within 5mm of the record 6 times, which is quite interesting
will need to a much colder winter and spring than we have been getting of late to make this year end up being colder than normal
I cant really see that happening with a slowly fading la nina pattern (and currently a pattern of lows from the north tasman)

11 of 19 days this month have now passed 20 degrees this April in our hood. And there will be a few more yet.
In fact the average T-Max is over 20
A remarkably warm month I reckon
Yes similar down here in South Canterbury. Average temperature must be running 4-5c above normal, haven't even had a Frost yet. Warm again today with 23c currently.

Yes. Looks likely to be warmer now for 2021 with models jumping around the place.
Darn. hoping for a cold winter. Bring on those frosts
EC 00Z upgrades Auckland to 50 to 60mm for Tuesday into Wednesday projecting a surface trough wedged between the warm and cold fronts with a energising dipping subtropical Jet stream and 17 to 18c DP's.
A period of unsettled weather coming up. Sub tropical air flows down onto the upper NI today under cool upper levels, see what can happen today.
A cool down on the way for NZ next week, plenty of below average temperatures next week.
near -80c cloud tops in the northern subtropics as the mid latitude surface trough erupts. Mid level moisture building above the surface trough to the North of the NI. DP's now around 17c in Northland.

GFS and EC both opening the fridge door in 5-6 days' time as the polar vortex fires a salvo quite far into the mid-latitudes via a longwave trough/Rossby wave which then cuts off over us. GFS currently showing 500mb down to -33/34C Sunday into Monday. Enjoy the warmth while it lasts team.

I drove past the tree today. I didn’t bother stopping in for a closer look as the tree looked completely fine.

Let see how its looking in a month or two
Interesting to look at the area on Google Earth: looks like that tree is about the tallest there, also looks quite top-heavy, having had lower limbs removed; and seems like it's growing in a fairly narrow unpaved area.

That multicell cluster off the Bay of Islands is starting to spark, about -65c on the cloud tops. DP now up to 17c locally, wind in the sweet spot at NE to ENE, sea surface around 20c, nice day for a waterspout or tornado.

Will be thunderstorms hail risk for otago/ Canterbury sat/sunday this weekend. Sat afternoon interesting from latest models today. Might be our last chance for a decent thunderstorm set up before it gets to cold

Looking at the radar animation, looks suspiciously like this heavy rain will just slide by Auckland again, missing our dam catchments once again
Another fine day but with cirrussy, mares tails bits this morning and thickening to Cc and other thin cirrussy forms this afternoon with some interesting cloud wave forms. Today's maximum was 20C. Here's a snap I took of looking towards Mt. Peel from midway along the Hinds to Arundel Road.
