Re: General July Weather
The less stormy weather trend continues here.
The feature of July weather for Auckland this year was the run of cold mornings to start the month, much of the region getting 5 days in a row with frost.

Re: General July Weather
Despite a cool start, July 2021 ended up warmer than normal overall. Very heavy rain around the west and north of the South Island mid-month caused severe flooding, especially around Buller, while eastern areas remained relatively dry. Sunshine was mostly above normal.

Re: General July Weather
With last June being NZ's warmest on record, and this July its 6th-equal warmest on record, August wouldn't need to be that much above normal to beat last year's warmest winter on record...NIWA in their July 2021 Climate Summary wrote:July 2021 was the 6th-equal warmest July on record. Six out the seven warmest Julys on record have occurred since the year 2000. The mean temperature for July 2021 was 8.9°C which is 1.1°C warmer than average (1981-2010).
