Re: Cyclone Dovi- impacts on NZ
Chucking down in Wellington at the moment. 99.999999999% of the inhabitants are VERY happy I can tell you!
Will be interesting to see what the winds get up to thru the day tomorrow. Personally I would not like to be camping in the region.
And…. Related. This kind of setup can cause havoc “downstream” from Mt Taranaki with severe winds. Fingers crossed they don’t get damaging winds.

Re: Cyclone Dovi- impacts on NZ
I can still remember what Cyclone Bola did to north and coastal Taranaki, that part of the region really can get belted by winds from the SE. As it happens I'm going to be traveling through there tomorrow en route to Palmy, and it looks like I'm going to be squarely in the hit zone just as the winds are expected to peak. It's going to be an interesting drive!

Worrying signs rain wise down here.. seems like it's not shifting north as quick as predicted. Has it stalled?

Had 47mm from this system so far bringing the total for the month to 138mm. Wind is not overly strong apart from the odd gust.

Re: Cyclone Dovi- impacts on NZ
Rain has been quite loud on my roof for the past few hours. Up to about 25mm for the event which is almost double the forecasted amount. Road conditions will be an issue today with slips already closing SH1 at Goose Bay near Kaikoura.

Pretty wild night here. Trees and branches down all over the place. Surprised the power is still on.

Re: Cyclone Dovi- impacts on NZ
Up to 85mm in my gauge here in Northwood and still pouring. I'd think atleast another 20mm left in this system. Weird how the airport gauge only has recorded about 45mm, I think it is because all day yesterday we had isolated torrential drizzle stuck over us where as the airport didn't.
