Do you find wind affects it at all?jamie wrote: βWed 06/07/2022 10:14I run my manual one within 30m of my electronic gauge all year round so I am always on top of an incorrect reading. It can vary massively tho. I can have +/- up to 5mm on rainfalls like we had. For example yesterdays event was 34mm electronic and 30mm manual. However it can easily go the opposite. On a event 70mm it can get close to 10mm difference each way.

Mt Ruapehu Ski Fields still need more snow (big volcanic rocks take a log of covering!)

Re: General July Weather
My one seemed to chronically underread during 2020 and part of 2021 , so much so ran calibration checks to try to work out what was wrong, but now it seems to match other gauges, it seems to work better when get regular and decent amounts of rain. I guess some of that is absolute error, 10mm verses 5mm seems like a big error when in a drought, but 50mm verses 55mm seems like a minor discrepancy.jamie wrote:Have never noticed but could well be the strongest reasoning behind it.tgsnoopy wrote: Do you find wind affects it at all?

Re: General July Weather
By chance I drove straight through this severe thunderstorm in the Manawatu early this afternoon. I have never seen rain so intense, it was practically undriveable. The icing on the cake was a brilliant CG directly in front of us and maybe about a kilometre away. Great stuff.

another warm night here (15c) and with a maximum of 18c or so, my 24 hour average temperature was 5.2C above normal
crazy
(I also see that Antartica sea ice is still at record low,and temperatures over the whole continent have been above average so far)

Re: General July Weather
Iβm starting to wonder if Auckland will get a winter at all. Usually by mid August itβs starting to feel a wee bit spring-like, so that leaves a month left for a winter spell. At least my power bills are low, am barely turning the heat pump on. Used it more in what seemed a very long summer, which is fine by me as I much prefer warm weather, but not so flash for the planet.
