Heat showers/Storms Boxing day

Hope everyone had a great Xmas Day.

See what the sea breeze convergence can trigger across the Auckland region this afternoon.

CB gone up west of here. Might be some thunder soon.

Auckland convergence underway now. Amazing looking Cb over South Auckland currently.

Thunder every few seconds here , big Cb filling our Eastern sky now.

That storm is severe warned now. Thunder was very frequent here a little while ago but has died off a bit now.

Frequent thunder again just to my west. Like a train of cells. Some areas are gonna see some decent rain accumulations

Just drove along the southern motorway near Mt Wellington, intense rain and surface water on the motorway.

Often first place to catch these types of
showers, they are elsewhere for once so baking in sun here, that could mean something more intense later however as the ground sure will be warm.

15.58h Still the odd rumbles heard over the last hour or so. Getting dark looking towards the East. May go out for a little chase and see if any interesting develops. (Observed from Titirangi)

Dropped south to Mercer, North Waikato. Non stop thunder here from Cb line just the east.

10 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued by MS for the upper North Island so far since 2:30pm today.

I see Auckland Council's Otahuhu WS recorded 51mm in the hour to 4pm this arvo... 8-o

That was an intense storm over South Auckland yesterday afternoon, joined a few photos to show the Cb

Looks like I missed a bit of action at home Xmas day! Should hopefully keep the garden happy while I'm away. Beautiful weather in Eastern BOP since I arrived Xmas eve. Hopefully Wellington keeps up this trend early in the new year..
