Crazy rain. Had a good downpour just after 5 here and coming down hard again now. Nothing like out west for around these parts though

Yeah, more a consistent heavy rain here, nothing too dramatic. Though it's suddenly gone quite gloomy so incoming maybe...

Doesn’t look like any decent break in rainfall for Auckland until Monday.

I have a mates flight from LA landing at 6am tomorrow morning in Auckland, does anyone think that might be at risk at this stage and may be diverted?

Some flights are already being diverted away from the airport I read on stuff. Would pay to keep an eye on auckland airport webpage.

In other news stuff ran a headline banner stating 71mm is about to fall on auckland. All because this reporter doesn’t understand the MS webpage.

Would be awesome if one of the MetService lurkers could download a hi res rain radar loop for the 24 hours of the event in Auckland and post. Certainly one for the ages that’s for sure.

Insane! Yet just down the road have had nothing like that over the last hour. Central Auckland copping it badly right now.

Pic was via Twitter. Looks to be international. Also saw video of car park outside with 30-40 cm!!!! flooding!

Also lights damaged earlier this evening by an arriving international flight has caused massive diversions on top of the flooding issues.

Just 150m away from my house there are houses with flood water up to near windows, cars flooded to the roof level.
