Re: Frost Reports 2024
The growing season of 2023-24 here has been a right mongrel starting with a late spring frost that caught many local gardeners out, this end of the season plant killing frosts have arrived earlier than past 10+ years.
This mornings frost was -1.2deg

A low of -2.9°C for Christchurch on your Saturday morning (27th August). I am guessing this is the airport site? This tweet from MetService states this was the third lowest April temperature at this site since 1954.

Been a bit slack looking lately, thought it must have been a good frost, killed off the leaves on my kiwifruit vines which grow under a cabbage tree patchNev wrote: Sun 28/04/2024 12:12Yes, Christchurch Aero's lowest ever April temp is -4.0°C in 1979, followed by -3.0°C in 1976 from records since 1954.Simon Culling wrote: Sun 28/04/2024 08:58 A low of -2.9°C for Christchurch on your Saturday morning (27th August). Re: Frost Reports 2024
Yes very much so there Richard, however there is snow through the interior of the Alps and eastern foothills here. So the cold air would certainly spread around abit I would think.Richard wrote: Tue 07/05/2024 08:08 Down to -3.8deg, and this is with no snow on the maintains. Happy to be wrong though.

Re: Frost Reports 2024
My thermometer went down to -0.7°C this morning, frost visible on lawns, house roofs. Blue dome sky.
(Yesterday must have been very close to a frost, was +0.5°C early on, cars outside may have had a bit of rime on them.)
