General May Weather

Post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

After this wet weather event for the end of April and the first coupla days of May, this month will will start off as fine and sunny with another anticyclone moving across the country. As Tony says it will be a stormy winter but there will be some blue dome days from anticyclones moving across the country together with the storms.

Clearing weather tomorrow, should be some big Cbs north of the city tomorrow with an isolated thunder chance. A fine sunny weekend is on the way.

Another 37 mm of rain falling today with rain easing from about 3pm but remaining cloudy with moderate winds from the SW.
Cold temperatures with it only getting up to 7.6C which was the general temperature for most of the day and night.
The power went off in Geraldine for an hour late afternoon, don't know if it was weather related.
101.3mm for the event here.No flooding from what I saw.

I noticed that.

We'll see... ;-)

Subjectively: winter sheets going on the bed several weeks earlier than recent past years.

Some high cloud today, sunny, about 14°C at the moment.

Yes, I can see that with less frosts and more cloudy skies over the next few months especially night time which lifts overall temperatures.
Seas are "warm" at the moment as well.
