Another fine and mild day with not much wind but a bit of a northerly influence this evening.
Some nice cirrus uncinus forms again this afternoon.

Re: General May Weather
interesting to see a Tasman cold front and a subtropical trough connecting up to each other. going to be some close radar watching this afternoon/tonight and especially tomorrow. high pressure returns on Saturday.

Re: General May Weather
Is quite a rackety wind outside, has risen over the past hour or so; have heard rubbish bins bowling along the road.

Convergence crossing Auckland late afternoon is something to watch. Mainly fine from tomorrow through next week, a bit of cloudiness at times.

Re: General May Weather
I sense something is developing on the southerly change to the south of Lincoln. Seems quite turbulent
Good display of Kelvin-Helmholtz developed for my lunchtime viewing too

Re: General May Weather
It looked so nasty just before it ripped through here, must have been close to thunder, now heavy rain falling

Re: General May Weather
Been raining here all day with some steady falls but not what I call heavy. Now clearing from the SW.
I see a severe THunderstorm warning has been issued for Auckland.

Re: General May Weather
Just starting to clear away now, but a further 12mm that's on top of very high water tables currently.
Didn't take long for surface water to pool up.
I've been watching the waterways where I work come up all week, most at full capacity some just starting to breach over the top.
The better news is that the flow looks more W-SW dominant in the coming weeks, so still some rainfall there but not big dollops.
Will possibly see our first decent polar blast somewhere in there, usually we've had a couple by now.
By that I mean snow levels around 300-400m.

Re: General May Weather
No forum for yesterday's weather but it was a warm day with nice NW Arch forms and a mild day resulting with a 22.4C maximum.
Photo below.
Today was a different story with total grey nimbus cloud cover and rain prior to dawn and steady rain falling from late morning to later this afternoon before easing and gradually becoming fine from 5pm onwards. 24mm for today. Today's maximum was recorded in the early hours prior to the southerly change which was quite fresh this afternoon.. 16.7C in the early hours but dropping away to be 10C for much of the day. Cooling down this evening with clearer skies.
