Sorry 29.9...
Today's high in Omarama was 33.3° at 17:25...it's 33° right now, and hardly breath of wind all day until a little while ago. The glider guys are a bit stuffed.
Well i did very well predicted max of 24C and I got 24.3C yus.
Indeed very hot in Alexandra woudln't wanna be biking the central otago rail trail at them moment phew .
24C again tomorrow once low cloud clears as it has now just started settling in again for the evening.
Cheers
Jason.
Iam enjoying this warm weather blue dome skies and a light NE wind.
Not bad considering the forecast looked like having bits of low cloud for today although that will possibly return this evening by about 7pm.
Not bad for 27C out there at the moment id say it will be into the thirties again over central otago today.
Cheers
Jason.

Summer is really here alright!!
A ditto day on yesterday although the sea-fog/mist which rolled in off the sea from around 5:10pm was a bit more thicker.
Warm again out at West Melton(29.3) but only 23C here in Somerfield.
Nice under the trees with a developing NE breeze.
Summer is here alright and I predicting warmer temperature to come, sadly, if this weather pattern continues.

I think the first week of February was 'traditionally' the hottest part of the year, up north at least (Auckland, etc)...I'm hoping it's not going to be the case again down here...since I've lived here, the peak has always been early January down this way (except this year)...I don't think I could stand it any hotter than this week!
Overall in the NZ record there is a small plus for Feb. over Jan. with mean temperature - the biggest difference being in more northern and western maritime areas, but parts of the east and SI hinterland have January with the highest average. But the differences are fairly small anyway. I would also guess the first week of Feb. as the hottest for the country overall on average, but have never seen summaries at the week level, only monthly or longer.
Walking on the Harry Ells track on Port Hills this afternoon. Very hazy to the west and very warm as most of the track is sheltered from the NE breeze.
29.4 recorded at my station at 1:20pm before the NE breeze arrived.
Photo below of the hazy view to the west.
