The tracker is really going off around the Te Kaha area on the East Cape.

Just had another look to the south - the large cb shows up beautifully in the evening light.

Don't understand why the lightning to the west of us isn't showing up on the tracker - lots of IC, and some CGs visible, but nothing on the tracker? Is there a delay inherent in the processing?

Thanks for the report Peter,

Boltech tracker is picking up 60 strikes/min from that BOP direction currently.

As if we need to see more cb photos here is a pic of a developing cb/ts over east AK this afternoon.

The tracker can't accurately place the lightning. All those strikes over eastern BOP on the tracker are infact over the Coromandal.

Makes the tool a little less than useful, eh? Is a reset required, or is this a permanent problem? <new to using this tracker in NZ>

Storms moving along the west side of the Coromandel peninsula - strong inflow winds here with towers still going up behind the storms - lots of lightning, and the first one doesn't seem to dissipating yet, although the trailing cell seems to be running out of puff.

Let me know if it arrives in Auckland :)

Cheers,
Peter

all the storms that have been up this way today have been moving NNW so i would expect the coromandel storms to do the same

Out to the east I have been watching two adjacent towering CB's with like a hole in the middle of them. Fabulous array of horizontal (forked)lightning. Its stunning to see.

Next question will be what is the diff between horiz and vertical lightning ;)
