Lovely day in Christchurch today although I don't think 18C was the max as what was indicated on TV this evening. I was 21C here and it felt like it was 21C here, possibly higher ?
Cloudy and SW this morning but this died away with a light NE from 1:30pm. I see a couple of 'High' lows up and down the country according to MetSerive's Noon surface map which possibly contributed to the SW this morning.

Travelling between Chch and Akaroa area early this morning, there was not only quite alot of low cloud/fog, but also some drizzle between about Taitapu and Birdling's Flat. I recall fog and low cloud being forecast, but not drizzle. However, after crossing a foggy Hilltop the weather was fine around Akaroa Harbour (apparently it had been all morning). Low cloud lingered about the western tops until about early afternoon.
BTW a fresh northeasterly blew in central Chch last night. Unfortunately it meant my place was downwind of the central city fire, so I got some smoke blowing in for a while. I first thought it might have been a fireworks display, but then I heard sirens, and soon realised what was really happening (though it wasn't as big as it might have appeared from a distance).

Yeah, it would of been a nice day in Ash. Cool Ene breezes kept a low cloud cover over ChCh for much of the day until the Ene become lighter from about 5pm onwards. I thought that Wapiara may of clinched the max from Alex today but it didn't. There was some light drizzle here early this morning but not enough to make a trace recording in my rain gauge.Deano wrote:The fine weather continues, felt like the middle of January today,my temperature gauge maximum for the day was 25,I see Ashburton was the high on one news with 23,also Alexandra with 27.
