Hi all I'm new here. I'm hoping it will be a nice big storm, hopefully my new weather station will arrive sometime this week, I can't wait to set it up. By the way I'm a weather junkie, can't get enough especially hurricanes/cyclones.Manukau heads observer wrote:could be one of the biggest storms for a while buy the looks....

A La crosse 3600, it the most I could afford that hooks up to a PC. My hubby (computer programmer/systems administrator) can't wait to play around with it especially trying to get open3600 working on my mac mini.Foggy Hamilton wrote:Welcome along!Yes it looks like a good storm coming up..but it may just send easterlies across Southland/Otago.. but it looks good after that with a cold change running up NZ hopefully by Monday.
What kind of weather station are you getting?
My biggest problem at the moment is finding the right site to put it.

with all the spill over rain on the great divide from this low just crossed the SI, and the same expected for the next low, then that should ease the power crisis?
(funny that i hard on the news they said no rain expected for the catchment areas in the near future....on the day it was raining there?
or have i missed something?

Call me a cynic but I think they will use any excuse to raise the price of electricity and start playing around with everyones hot water.Manukau heads observer wrote:with all the spill over rain on the great divide from this low just crossed the SI, and the same expected for the next low, then that should ease the power crisis?

a single helium cooled nuclear power plant should do it....and its safe and believe it or not (if managed properly) has less impact on the environment than the archaic practice of burning fossil fuels!
but yes i think your right flutterbye, they will find ANY excuse to increase the per unit cost of electricity.
Also the govt should be subsiding the installation of solar panels on ALL new houses built
two pennies bit, and completely irrelevent to this thread
