Saturday i must say was a flop! heard about 3 claps of thunder (distant) and basically got no rain out west... :?
Had heavy rain all morning on Saturday in Swanson/ Waitakere. Frequent thunder first thing too.
Finally cleared up around lunchtime

9am Saturday 29 April 2006 we had, in and around New Zealand, 18,680 lightning cloud to ground discharges!
I saw a grand total of 6 :x...grrrrrrr...!
I saw dozens, both from the top of the waitakere's and the top of the office here in the CBD. You should find a better vantage point Cameo.
