A bust today. We were a bit slow getting away this morning and the severe storms ended up to far east. Can see lots of distant lightning tonight though. We are at Rolla, central Missouri.

Weather has been consistently hot here with max today reaching 33C. :)

Photo here of sunset tonight, crossing the Missouri River at Jefferson City.
You can see the haze that blankets this region.

Here's another pic from yesterday (joined 3 photo's), the start of our Thunderstorm line that became severe through the Evening.

Lower photo shows the severe Thunderstorm line a couple of hours later , had developed very nice shelf cloud.

A very hot steamy day (37C, dp20C)) sunny skies but cloud buildups from mid afternoon with well scattered severe storms firing across Oklahoma to Missouri.

Intercepted this storm near Tulsa, Oklahoma late afternoon. This cloud would have been an ice maker so we stayed clear of its precip. Saw lots of CG's and a weak wall cloud before the storm weakened.

The best cloud build up I've ever seen, watched this cloud develop from a small Cu cloud. Chased the storm for about 2 hours, it died before dark.

By the way, the CAPE this afternoon over this area was 5000J/KG.
And its 10pm at night here and the temp is 31C!

Tomorrows target area looks like being west/central Kansas at this stage. :)

Traveled from Tulsa to NW kansas today. Weather fine and hot (36C) with severe thunderstorms breaking out in our vicinity 4.30pm at Hays, Kansas. Observed rotating mesocyclone with this storm for about 30minutes. Have seen plenty of gustnadoes too as well as running into the Doppler on Wheels trucks from the NSSL.

Currently in Hays City with frequent lightning/thunder. Big CG's

Photo here of a mesocyclone (sculptured wall cloud) over NW Kansas today. (this is the inflow region of a supercell thunderstorm)

Lifted condensation levels were just a bit high today for a tornado to develop from this. Fun to watch though. It showed good rotation.
An amazing lightning show around it.

I guess you know you are in the right area when you see one of those big trucks.
Are you getting fat from eating in all those diners.

Go the Hurricanes.

Looks like a spacecraft car  8) .
Perhaps it is a car desinged low to the ground and of good vortex to handle high winds and large hail. ;)
Never know maybe it could have suction pads so it can stay on the ground when a tornado comes overhead film right up the funnel. :D
I see Geoff Mackley is over there chasing havnt bumped into him yet have you guys?.
Cheers
Jason.

Decided to target the Texas Panhandle region today. North Dakota looks better but we couldn't be bothered with the drive north. Currently we are in Shattuck, west of Woodward, Oklahoma with a good view west at the dry line in the Panhandle. Current temp is 36.1C, dewpoint 13.3C. More comfortable humidity today. Can see Isolated thunderstorms firing to our west here. Time 4.48pm, hoping something more substantial develops.

Intercepted a storm over the Ok/Tx border east of Amarillo. Lots of lightning, gusty winds, blowing dust, burst of heavy rain/hail(1cm sized)
and a couple of small funnel clouds observed. Storm did not look severe but did have severe thunderstorm warnings on it. A bigger storm to the south of here is reportedly dropping golf ball hail.
