After leaving NZ on Friday (going to Auckland early because of the weather uncertainty - maybe transport issues later in the week ) flying to Santiago, couple of days' stopover en route to Brazil (where it will be much warmer of course). Shouldn't be too bad there though it has a reputation for smog in winter conditions:

With its enormous length and altitude variations Chile has a fair range of temps and rainfall in any season:
