Boring SI weather...
...is there any end in sight to the "boring weather" for the S. Island? Methinks not...nothing looks promising at all on recent model runs...even the long range ones...early spring this year?

Ive enjoyed the last 2 'summer' days!!
I think from about now onwards we can start be looking at models to throw something up thunderstorms wise. Although the best peroid fo Tstorms would be the 2-3 months before christmas.
btw the earliest chase of the season I have had would have been Augest 5th 2004, couple nice cbs on the plains.

Boring here as well. And the forecast of "fine" for Monday and yesterday was wrong in any reasonable interpretation - persistent cloud in Kapiti and W'gton. At least the light drizzly stuff falling now was forecast, but whether the "fine window" before an evening southerly change will happen is moot.

Gloomy old morning here in the Vale of Tawa. Hills have disappeared in the low cloud/fog. 7mm of rain overnight and the trees are dripping in the drizzle. No wind to chase off the murk either.
Trains from the Kapiti Coast are tip-toeing through owing to the signalling failure - there'll be a few grumpy commuters in Wellington's gilded towers today.
Oddly the tui, who usually revel in such conditions, haven't put in an appearance this morning. They usually collect for a bit of a scrap in the rats-tail tree in such conditions, but I suspect that they've stayed at home with a steaming coffee and the newspaper. How wise.

Yes...it has been a bit boring but we have had some nice days here up until today. we have needed it, to dry things out and to encourage the forthcoming spring growth
