Models are now making this look like more of a 1-2 punch with a "sucker punch" front coming through tmrw and then the good stuff on SUN/MON (funny that, Mondays and snow are popular here on the S. Island)...And MS SWO still looks promising for "our cousins way down South" for sure (e.g. YOU guys, flutterbye, Fujita Phil, and Gary...where IS Gary these days???)
Looks like it will then spread up the east coast of both islands...Latest LAPS MSLP has the low going to 984 while off the East coast of the S. Island...
we shall see!
(I will personally start battening down tonight, just quietly........

That's exactly what I've been thinking for a while now ~ always seems to be a Monday!
I agree with the other comment too ~ Metservice don't seem to know themselves what's going to happen. Can't be easy forecasting for NZ anyway, with the vast bodies of ocean on either side.

I will make a wish on my falling snowstar.

There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

Invercargill, like Auckland, gets its worst (most interesting) winter weather from the unstable westerlies. But the westerlies have not been very active this winter.it seems like this winter Invercargill has escaped unscathed
The city in NZ that normaly experiences the most snow is Dunedin, but we have not seen a proper Antartic outbreak this winter so Dunedin has missed the snow so far.

Blast looking abit fainter now still get a cold surge but flakes perhaps not
.
Once again in the paper this morning the weather said sleet to sea level with snow above 400m which of course is impossible. If we were going to get sleet the snow level technically would have to be 200m or slightly lower due to the freezing level.
Great start to the day though sunshine few weakish looking cumulus around kinda hinting something
and 14.1C.
And southerly just hitting now as I write look at that
.
Cheers
Jason.
