Spring weather pattern just around the corner.....

after this next high....
i.e NW/SW wind changes with active fronts, then back to a westerly swinging slowly to a NW with the next front.....
will mean much warmer temperatures.....
august started off warmer than normal but is now colder than normal....at the moment...

Yeah well im now looking farwed to spring and warmer weather! i think iv had enough of winter for awhile.But that just means the next best thing.THUNDERSTORMS!!!

and it wont be long and the team will be out chasing in Christchurch and on the good old canterbury plains.

Should be some good snow falls for the Otago skii fields early next week and low level snow fall from Gore to Qtwn south.

Cold up here today but fine.

Yes, Brian, it may be interesting to see what spring may bring us

Could be a very NW period in October.
Very wet in western regions. Thunder in the north

I hope so as with a predominant NW flow it should be mainly dry here in Canterbury when our house is moved out to West Melton

I say there will be the occasional cold snaps which should enhance thunder outbreaks here in Canterbury if the NE onshore kicks in.

Yes perhaps a wamer than normal summer here is hoping also plenty of storms

This wekend could be a mild one especially Sunday some places might get into the early 20's especially areas inland

.
I am confident on this storm season being a good one don't know why perhaps it's the previous weather we have had

The thing its a totally incorrect forecast...on 1ZB it was updated at 830 from the light winds SE,Fine to SW cloud and possible showers(whats happening now and complete 8/8

At this stage the Aug-Oct from NIWA is still going for weakened westerly flows - but then they don't seem to have done very well on the winter forecast so far.

its only cloudy periods.

Michael's anticyclonic gloom set in more now....so temperatures not very good here now...only 13oC or so....
but with the NWer approaching, things will warm up for the upper NI

Fantastic isnt it? Lots of bulidings all radiating heat, lots of cars nearby, c'mon residents of Oamaru, do your bit for the town and rev your engine really hard when you go past the weather station. I wonder if the council can set up a few strategically placed mirrors to reflect onto the new weather station at midday and 3pm, that should increase the radiation on the temp sensor. Why stop at wanting to have the wamest temperature in New Zealand, take on the world by installing a permanently boiling jug of water right under the weather station, whats that, you didnt know Oamaru had thermal springs? Why of course.

I think Taupo and Rotorua should try harder - with all that geothermal activity out there, it shouldn't be hard to ramp up the readings.

14.5oC here now...with the NW wind here now
much warmer than the last few days here (with the anticyclonic gloom)
and it should stay warmer for a while now (upper NI)
