Gidday Wildland (and other Wellington observers) .... yeah, have to agree, a very wet day here in Upper Hutt, we have recieved almost 60mm in 24 hrs, both my automated WX sensor and manual guages have recorded the same amount of rainfall, so it was yet another significant rain event for the Wellington area. Have just taken the dogs down to the Hutt River, and it is flowing very rapidly and is the highest I have seen it for some time. Localised flooding of the river where it has burst it banks has occured down around the Block road turn off in Lower Hutt apparently....
METJET NZWN radar shows a clearance now, with the rain heading towards the Wairarapa and clear radar picture behind the departing system.
Wind has also ceased, we had a good NW breeze from 5am till around 11am when it started to drop off.
Currently a calm, overcast mist has settled over the pines here in the Valley, Humidity 91%, 1002.5hPa and rising, and a warm(ish) 10.4C.
Hoping for a finer day tommorow so I can do some fencing!
