A lot more flights have been arriving/departing Palmerston North airport, this morning, as a result of that fog around Wellington.

Temperature has got up to 29.8C around 2pm today in the city. Just cooling a little bit now as more cloud moves in from the N/NW.

humid and warm

Unread post by RODALCO »

Titirangi, Humid and damp on the North West side. temp 25°C 80% RH
Had some drizzle showers about 1 hour ago. morning was dry.
Good for the garden.

( Last night was warm in Albany, Oteha Valley, where i had to do a job for the powerboard. some fine drizzle ± 19°C. at 02.00hrs )

But nothing like the actual rain forecasted.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

Paul you are obviously with the MS? can i ask the reason for putting a moderate risk tomorrow thunderwise for canterbury?.
Interesting between the 3-4pm radars there has been a big change in the two with the latest at 4pm showing heavy rain in south canterbury.
Been having the odd breif spit shower come through in the last hour with some large drops in them.
Cheers
Jason.

I sorta knew but didn't want to make an idiot of myself if he wasn't so I thought I would ask   .
This rain sure is strange today we have had a few breif spit showers about 4pm then dry up until about 7:30pm when there was a more significant shower that lasted 10 minutes but now dry again 8) .
Cheers
Jason.

Likely to be some afternoon showers again today but I would like to see the NZWP000Z upper air to see how the overnight wind change has modified the sounding. I would say its likely more stable with an inversion there now so any showers coming out of low topped cu buildups.

Yes, was some localised heavy rainfall around last night. I notice Mercer had 30mm in a short space of time.

15 mm of rain here in Tawa since 3 this morning.
Brings the month to date to 46 mm.

With the arrival of the rain, the temperature has coasted down slightly (1 degree) from 19.3 at 3:21 a.m.
Temperature and dewpoint tracking along at almost identical values.

Yes, nice phtos there!

NZWP0000Z sounding shows the atmosphere fairly well capped here at 1000m, hence just some small cu about today despite the warm humid conditions.
