I observed quite a downpour in the Mission Bay area mid evening, just two lightning flashes observed. I see the Mission Bay rainfall reading was 18mm, most of that falling in a short space of time. The retail area was flooded up to the shop fronts. (again!)

Storm moved across eastern Auckland between 8.30pm and 9pm. Not much lightning but it looked spectacular from Mt Eden (photo) as it moved in from the Hauraki Gulf.

Very heavy showers here this evening, I see Grey Lynn has had 13mm in the last hour.

Yeah.. been getting some messages from people at parachute Music festival.. at mystery creek in hamilton.. Heavy heavy weather.. Apparently they have opened up the large building for weather refugees... i guess thats gonna need to happen when you have 22,000 people onsite in a storm..

Looked to have been a good thunderstorm too around Warkworth area.

Didn't notice any thunder or lightning out at Muriwai, but the rain was pretty heavy at times last night. Still some heavy showers this morning.

I'd like to, but I'm only here till Wednesday, and I don't have a car to get out too far. Thanks any way.
Looks like clearing now, but more showers (and thunderstorms) are- forecast for tonight and early tomorrow. Somewhat different to longrange forecasts several days ago that predicted rain for virtually the whole time I'd be here.
