Yes, that Invercargill sounding has warmed up. And yes, models want to have another shot of colder low level air across the South Island tomorrow but only shallow instability, so showers not so beefy. The colder air continues onto the North Island as well so more snow for Whakapapa on Ruapehu. They have had 20cm so far this weekend.

Yes well it will be interesting to see what happens it would be good to have some activity come on shore breifly tonight too but just depends how offshore it all stays with that front.
There was quite abit of scatterd cloud last night visable because of the moon shining, with a weak CU top towards BP so perhaps the flow is slowly tilting in favour, I know it's only coatal cloud but still something compared to the last few days.
I see MS are going for activity on the Tuesday as well though i am not sure how long it will stay coastal for.
Cheers
Jason.

Ah well, different types of people obviously. I'm somebody who has built an observatory on a remote mountaintop, free for community use, as well as installing half a dozen online weather stations, also free for anybody to access, all in my own time and at my own expense.Deano wrote:I hear similar negative vibes from the locals in Cairns on development here, but usually coming from people that havent been anywhere in life, and are quite happy in their own little banjo playing world.
Those Ocker banjo players must be retarded...how can they not love the sight of unspoilt natural wilderness being bulldozed up and concreted over just to make some greedy, stinking-rich thieves even richer? Bunch of Aussie hillbilly losers, as you say.
A lovely day here in the Mackenzie. Barely a breeze or cloud. The snow is melting away quickly.

If you're talking about Mt John observatory, I seem to recall when I stayed in Tekapo between xmas and new years' that it was gonna cost Emma and I $50 each to visit it! (and see stars of course) (actually i'd see stars before looking in any telescope paying the $50 to do it!)Gary Roberts wrote: Ah well, different types of people obviously. Heh, nah...that's Earth & Sky. My observatory is on Benmore Peak, further south, between Twizel and Omarama, and it's completely not-for-profit.Andrew Massie wrote:If you're talking about Mt John observatory, I seem to recall when I stayed in Tekapo between xmas and new years' that it was gonna cost Emma and I $50 each to visit it! I think E&S dropped the price of the tour a wee while ago. It was pretty steep, no doubt about it, although a damn interesting tour nonetheless. They're putting more than 20,000 people a year through their operation, not including the cafe up there. (They do the best ham sandwiches, and the hot chocolate is superb too!)
