Apparently there was so much extreme weather last month, that NIWA had to put out an extra pdf document to go with its monthly climate summary. Probably the most extreme month for weather events (as opposed to months with individual massive events, eg Cyclone Bola) that I can recall. I though January 2002 was a particularly extreme summer month for NZ, but not as bad as Feb 2004.

I've heard comments in the media that last month was an example of what our weather will become like under global warming. Well February 2004 (according to NIWA) was 1.1C colder than normal nationally, and some inland areas reported record or near record mean tempertaures for the month. :-({|=

Hello
I'm French. I live near Paris.
If in NZ february has been rainy, in France February has been very dry.
Total rainfall: 3,5mm !
Max /24h: 1.5mm
Rainfall >1mm: 2

Hier it's winter in February, and I had been 6 days of snow in lastest week.
Hight Temperature: 18.5°C (near record for first week of February).

February is equivalent at august in French.
And August (last summer month) 2003 war very hot, with record: 40°C at Paris, 15 000 people dead !
The average of maximum temperature: 30.3°C !! (23.8°C it's the normal !)
