Bring it, I say.

A couple of years ago I bought a house in Dunedin with a great view for the girl and cats. But she knew the view was just a bonus... I really wanted to make sure I was in the snow-line ;)

Im with you on that one Phil,if there was a hill in Ashburton I would be living on top of it as well.
I will be spending the weekend in Dunnas, looking forward to the squally westerly/southwesterly change later on Saturday.

In Auckland being in the snow line usually means a lazy weekend at the Grand Chateau. 8)
Phil, living up in the snow line  you will get much less Frost than those suburbs lower down so you could say it's warmer up there. Looks like you may see some Sleet there early next week, May is usually the month when the first snow flurries dust those hill suburbs.

I once lived half way up the Mornington hill (in Dunedin above Carisbrook). One night we had 20cm and nothing settled at the base of the hill. A change of elevation of just 100m can make the difference. :)

According to Augie, the 'la Nina' should bring heaps of snow to Ruapehu this year. That is his prediction. I hope he's right. :D

Yeah only two frosts up here last year I think I recorded and very light ones. Down in North East Valley below, it was always white. The temperature would easily be well in the minus down there but up here last year I believe I probably only recorded a minus temperature once or maybe twice.

Most mornings I would hardly have ice on the windscreen, I'd drive down 100m in elevation and all hell would break loose on the roads
