Similar rainfall in Auckland with 9mm recorded for the month. I notice Whangarei had no recordable rainfall for March. The whole country apart from the South Island's West Coast had a drier than average March.
Sunshine was above normal in the east and north of the country as well with most areas recording over 200hrs (including Auckland Michael). The sheltered Bay of Plenty recorded 270 + hrs.
I have a look through the NIWA tables for January this year. Auckland was one of the warmest town/city in NZ with a mean temperature of 20.6C beaten by Whangerei on 20.9C. Wellington 18.3C,
Christchurch 18.8C, Dunedin 16.1. Haven't seen Feb tables.
