Absolutely!
I'm just having issues with xtra (they're my provider)... Does everybody have to pay $$$ to run a website? If so, should I consider sponsors?

Pics of install here:

Hygrometer on SE side of house sheltered from Easterly wind, I know the rain gauge is on the roof, but I couldn't find anywhere 1m off the ground that was logical on the property. Just need to get data cable from main unit to PC, and I can start uploading data!

Keep it up Andrew - did you sort out an ISP - they are much dearer in NZ than in US - asecond or two longer on downloads is nothing for a $7 to $10/month deal. There are other ISP's that will only charge a pittance for some sites despite the bandwidth consumed. I will check what they recommend on Weather-Watch.com. At least you have the equipment mounted and quicklytoo... Oh I have somepics for you but at 800kB each and there is like 40 of them, I willpick out the best...;) I should post on my Flickr site... hmmm, need to register for more folders...

Cheers - oh,we had a storm come through - you would be proud!! Knocked out our wholesite - an 80MVA (guessing here) regional substation transformer was knocked out with a direct hit, took out the other two and the town for 3 hrs (and my Wx Stn...) The other twowill be reconnected to serve the wholesite while the swap out transformers.

No, not using an ISP yet... BUT I've registered on weather underground, got the data transfer cable, will be running it this weekend, hopefully will have station sending data by Monday!

AWESOME! I'd love to see the damage caused by a lightning strike on a transformer! Obviously they're gonna use this event as an excuse to upgrade, which makes sense.

Thanks Andrew - i didn't want it to be just a pile of Wx Data presented piece after piece, but preferred to add other content and point to the national and network forecasts. And keep it colourful yet tasteful...

Actually WxSim forecasting software cost quite a bit more than Weather Display, and most folks are interested in the weather ahead anyway, but the Summary gif gives the current data - just like my banner below, which i have from my site as http://www.inmanavenue.com/banner.html and i watch that during the day at work, also my webcam with webcam.html... so you can do all sorts of things... so I added simple current graphs as well to give trends esp of Barometer.

I am only paying $7 / month for my website but he has allowed me to go from 2GB data bandwidth to 10GB without an increase - we are both in the same town and we are both local comunity supporters in other things too.

The lightening strike actually hit the feeder lines in on the 110kV lines, the transformers were ok - they all dropped out and protected them selves. Well we don't know oif there has been any damage but they are all back on line. Some parts of the plant did not start up until 12:30 the next day - it takes a long time for the highly integrated site to blend together again.
I have some photos but they are all 800kB just about so may just package them up into a CD. PM me your address and i can send them all on down...

Catch you tomorrow - oh that's later today HAHA! ;)

Bumping a gap in this thread - I didn't take photos of the storm unfortunately, but I was referring to a promise I had made tio Andrew for Photos of large Elec equipment on site - 3MW Synchronous motors and the like... sorry.

Andrew - how is the weather station going? Have you got some info onto a website yet??

Cheers

Graeme

No... I'm doing it on the cheap at this stage, not willing to spend more money on internet at the moment, and I'm happy with what I've currently got!

We've also been throwing a lot of $$ at a marine tank, which I'm really enjoying too!
