Hi guys... new here

Unread post by Vertigo »

Hey there,

Came across this forum after googling for cyclone daman tracking data. Im a 25 year old avid weather watcher, I am fascinated by storm formation and, in particular, thunderstorms. Lightning really gets me going :). Looks like a good place to share enthusiasm for decent weather.

I have a few pics to share of my weather monitoring stuff.. I have a windows explorer shell replacement called litestep, which lets me do pretty much whatever I want to my desktop. Combine that with some vbscript programming, and the worlds my oyster.

This is what I have right now (sorry for large pic, dual monitors) (on second thought, ill just post links, not images)

These are the maps I have, some you probably know well

I also have a little box popup if the lightning forecast text on the metservice site has been updated.

Been checking out some of the links you guys have posted, especially the lightning strike trackers. Very interesting stuff. This NexStorm software looks amazing, but the interface cards are pricey. One day! I love this: http://www.weather-display.com/windy/gb/StormVue.html ... how much traffic would I be using if viewing it? Dont want to cost the owner hundreds of bucks :)

Oh, my mate whipped up a quicky website with all the images I gather myself here: http://ohthehugemanatee.com/weather

Anyway, gotta get some sleep, work tomorrow.

Next to nothing, the .dat file updates every minute and are only a few kb in size.

problem with my boltek is that it picks up the neighbours electric fence
but I have been working with Relko, the author of Nexstorm, in getting him raw data, so that he can work on getting that data ignored....hopefully!
