Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
sunny day here now, still fairly windy up in the clouds by the looks of things.
say what you will about it, but it was still a disappointment for the north. less than a day later and you couldnt tell it was even here. the south doesnt know how lucky its gonna be.

We just had a breif shower, just enough to wet the ground and tease the cockies.
Can't see much more coming out of this for ChCh unless the southerly change brings some glad tidings

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
A very good steady rain here now!
There's a lot on that radar too.
Seems like the S change has just come through now, rain getting heavier.

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
Thanx for the above info Andrew – I did not think my location was showing
, so made amends – but I imagine my Login Nickname would give most a good idea.
Where was the centre meant to track ???
I have no wind monitoring equipment – but we have had some very strong gusts here in the inner Pelorus Sound. Broken some tree tops out and my wife’s Roses and Tomatoes have taken a hiding !!!!
Appears to be easing off now and rain eased – had 71mm but a bit more to come. so that great – as only 9mm from Boxing Day until this lot.

No worries! Yeah, I got yours ok.... It was Ryan's I didn't know!Pelorus Pete wrote:Thanx for the above info Andrew – I did not think my location was showing, so made amends – but I imagine my Login Nickname would give most a good idea.
Not far from you Ryan, I'm at CPIT, but live in New Brighton.
Hopefully our catchments are filling up. Couldn't have the DC link running backwards now, can we?!! And that's about 840MW instead of 1000. NI could be in trouble, particularly if we lose one of those pylons! But that's a different topic altogether!

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
Strong gusty winds with one quick heavy convective shower this afternoon so far. The few mm we have had from Funa is not going to last long in this wind
Sounds like canty is finally getting some weather worth talking about

Driving southerly rain in Chch now and down to 13C. I see there's a low risk of thunderstorms for us according to MetService. (doesn't feel likely, but who knows)

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
Interesting to note today that the wind never swung gale N-NW just stayed NE all day and breezy, the stronger winds would have been further north.
Weather from this low hasnt turned out the way I was thinking it would, thought we might have some sort of bad weather.
Just scatterd light rain occasionally steady with a strong SW wind, I would say about 4mm all up so far and looks like its on the clear now
.
Cheers
Jason.

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
Good rain here at West Melton with the SW, today and thanks to Funa
With the current La Nina weather pattern over us at the moment we have to depend on these dying Tropical Cyclones to move over us to deliver good rains upon us.
In ordinary circumstances, the SW changes, that come up, are useless.

Re: Tropical Cyclone FUNA
Really? Been pretty moderate and steady over here, stopped a little while ago. Possibly 15mm.Just scatterd light rain
Anyway, shouldn't be too long until our next rains, just got to wait for another tropical cyclone to come down to NZ.
