Looks like metservice have done okay on this event, the heaviest rainfalls in Auckland have been in the north, the Massey station reports a dump of 60mm and Whenuapai 65mm! Just 31mm out this way, but that's a fair bit anyway.
It got very windy here again for a time this afternoon, gusting up to 75km/h.

Hello Northland. Come in Northland.
Seems to me that there's a shortage of commentary from Northland where the full effects of this weather system are being felt.
Up to 11 this evening there is scant news from the north, apart from reports of road closures and people being prepared for sandbagging at Kaeo. The Whangarei weather station popped off the net at 9 p.m. with a report of 45 mm of rain for the day and the Dargaville station now reports 22 mm for the day. Both stations showed a steady, relentless fall of rain throughout Saturday.
Out on the edges of the weather system here at Tawa (north of Wellington) we've had an amazing February day. The temperature has hovered about 27 degrees for most of the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. telling us that it was an unusual weather event. We were lucky that the humidity was pressed down into the 40s for most of that time. Certainly another tropical experience has been lurking in New Zealand's neighbourhood.

We've managed 34mm in the last 48hrs from this event, which is more than our accumulated total for the last two months. Still drizzling gently, calm and 20deg.

Those inland Coromandel rain guages topped 200mm this weekend. Havn't seen that in a while. With the moist air over the upper north we havn't managed to lose the stratus/drizzle today.

Very disappointing rainfalls from this system so far, just 6.4mm from it.
Back to the heat and dryness now!
ECMWF develops a complex low next weekend.. perhaps it's more promising with the northwesterlies here.

there is still one more rain band to come through.....its still warm with high dew points here....and there is colder air behind that front...and with some daytime heating, it might be a good line of showers?...what say you?
but yes at least the weather pattern is bringing more regurlar lows onto the NI now

I must say, last night was completely unexpected, around 11pm a nice steady rain began, I'm not sure when it finished, from 11 to midnight there was 3.5mm and after that another 11.4mm followed for an overnight total of 15mm! I look at the rain radars overnight and there's almost nothing to speak of really! Perhaps a local stationary shower? Anyway, can't complain, now up to 50mm from this system. 75mm in the last two weeks, so lawns are certainly looking greener!
Strange how Waikato missed out again, often Waikato and Auckland get their rainfalls at the same time.

we did not get that rain here (either)...but the low did start to re invigorate as it moved slowly east, and so you must have got some of that before it complety left the area...

There were showers south and north of Ak late yesterday from small Cu/Cb buildups so the air was fairly unstable.last night was completely unexpected, around 11pm a nice steady rain began,
Yes perhaps another slow moving rain system early next week.

Yeah, things like that is why I find it useful to have rain gauges - it can be surprisingly different from airport or other official observations. That last rain system really weakened as it came across the Auckland area, places too far south didn't receive a great deal. Looking at your data, I see you only have 31mm for the month, but I have 80mm this month.Manukau heads observer wrote:we did not get that rain here (either)...but the low did start to re invigorate as it moved slowly east, and so you must have got some of that before it complety left the area...
