i see Foggy has recorded 6mm in Hamilton
we have only had 0.8mm

Can't really see any proper widespread rain on the radar - only patchy disorganised bands

Hopefully the rain is still to arrive, nothing here so far today.

I notice some lightning on Rickys tracker coming from that line of cb's down Waitomo way.

good rain in the Waikato overnight...Foggy got 30mm

we have had 8mm, and another shower coming through now...
typicaly the rain radar is down again?

We have only only a trace of rain in Grey Lynn overnight. Hopefully some heavy showers as the front passes over today. Auckland tends to be a bit of a rain shadow in deep NW flows.

Yes, just 1mm for central Auckland over the 24hrs. Currently 20C dewpoint 18C.

There were Thunderstorms in the Waikato/ Waitomo last night so isolated heavy falls down there.

Yeah, not quite 1mm here which has been quite disappointing, yet not that surprising as it is about the 10th time that has happened this year.

Must be near a record low minimum temperature for April, only got down to 18.4C here this morning.

Hopefully April will still end the anticyclone dominance pattern??

Meanwhile Kelburn's total is already 167mm for the month, the highest since 1980!

I doubt if your 18.4C is a record David, you'd have to check the daily minima for April 1956 (which is by far the warmest on record)

Rain radar suggests a bit more is on the way in a line of a few showers.

That's a great looking squall line too currently surging across Fiordland/Westland.

just talking to farmers on the coast to my SW,and they received 30mm or more from 5am to 7:30am

(but it was too heavy, alot of it ran off the dry ground!)

I wonder if the 2nd front will still be active when it comes through up this way,....sometime in the wee small hours of the morning...might be some thunder acitivity with it....as still alot of moisture around at the moment here, and things are unstable looking still (with the help of the jetstream)

Got 2 showers out this way today, one very heavy about 2pm. Been looking very dark and threatening at times as well. Total of 7.5mm rain for the day - not a great deal but better than nothing

Yes RWood, I looked at April 1956 daily minimums from the Owairaka site and there are 3 values over 18.4C. Might be worth noting Ricky's Grey Lynn weather station recorded a low of 19.3C - highest in the Owairaka set from Apr1956 is 19.1C.

In the last 24hrs we have had 28mm in Sth Waikato - the drought has been broken for now - provided it stays cloudy and NE for the next 4 weeks... as more of the same will continue methinks - once a week. I lost my Hygro - field hub for my Wx Stn so had no rain measurement for the downpour last night and gentle rain today ...

My mate and Kinleith mill have rain data that I can update mine with theirs.

Say April will be markedly colder and wetter than for a while due to the stuff in the tasman sea/under Australia all lined us all up like a target.
