Re: Truck Protest Routes
Absolutely hilarious how all the traffic cams on the met service site were taken off line for the protests;
it’s like living in CHINA.
Obviously the government wants to play this down and hide it away from the world,
absolutely pathetic,
shame on you government, dictatorship.
And obviously if they are confronted about it they will have a well versed reason and excuse.
Where’s the FREEDOM gone.

Errr well it's sort of easy to tell why they're down - the transit.govt.nz site is pretty overloaded...
Snapshot of the webcam earlier this morning,

Code: Select all
C:\Users\Will>ping -t transit.govt.nz

It was a bit surreal in town today hardly any traffic on the main roads, just lots of truckes around queen st and very few general public, almost as many media people!.. best drive in and out I've had yet

Amen to that! I needed to drive from Burwood to Addington today and though...well, I try my usual route anyway...if I get stuck, oh well...ricky wrote:It was a bit surreal in town today hardly any traffic on the main roads, just lots of truckes around queen st and very few general public, almost as many media people!.. best drive in and out I've had yet
Very light traffic all the way through Innes Rd to Cranford to Bealey (which shocked me more than anything) around Hagley Park (North end to Riccarton Rd roundabout...my favourite roundabout in town...NOT!)...came down past Riccarton mall to Blenheim Rd and.....HELLO!!! LOTS OF TRUCKS backing up along Blenheim Rd as far as the eye could see...
All together only took me 15 minutes

Wish I could say the same. Drivers doing maybe 10 km/hr down here in the BOP. You'd clear one and hit another a kilometre or so down the road. I had to go down to Whakatane and it was a really long frustrating day.

I reckon they should get rid of trucks on our roads, especially between the main centres and send everything by rail or coastal shipping?

Doh, back to the bad old days... Whilst good for the environment and roads, it would be a bad thing in my opinion.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:I reckon they should get rid of trucks on our roads, especially between the main centres and send everything by rail or coastal shipping?

I'm told that Friedlander gave the show away off-air yesterday and admitted they had ignored warnings. They should pay their share for road damage, haven't done so in aeons.

If you increase the cost of freight then you end up with prices going up in our supermarketsThey should pay their share for road damage, haven't done so in aeons.
