...was just wondering what the little box with the "50" inside it means on the M/S 3-day maps...shows up sometimes around the purple line which is "When thick purple lines are displayed, any precipitation within this area is likely to fall as snow."...anyone know? Please see attached...Just curious, is all....many thanks in advance!

The purple line is the 50% "probability of freezing precipitation" contour line (i.e. precipitation inside this area is most likely snow). The "50" is the 50% contour label.

thats the 50 in the box John, I think you will find, i.e its the label for that 50% contour line
