You found that picture to Steven W! quite incredable isn't it!
John emailed me that one and he said it was taken by a guy called Matt Smith from the ASWA (Australian Severe Weather Association). I'm guessing this Matt guy is in the states now for a storm chasing holiday.
Is what I've said right John?
Great first picture aswell

Re: Iowa Tornado
Finally got hold of the shot. Yes

....by the way on the same Web-site I was intrigued with the new storm chasing vehicle that this Geof Mackly has perchased for storm-chasing in NZ.
I personally prefer my wife's 1960 Morris minor.
we had a very successful storm-chase Labour WE 2002

I didn't say it was taken by Matt smith, he supplied the photo from somewhere/someone.Aaron J Wilkinson wrote:You found that picture to Steven W! quite incredable isn't it!

Ahh, so it wasn't Matt Smith that took the photo, thanks John.
As for this new truck of Geoff Mackleys, I wrote something about it a few threads back, here's what I wrote:

I note he's getting a new tuck for storm filming in NZ, can that be warranted, getting a big brand new truck for doing that type of stuff in NZ where storms (be it thunder, hurricane) don't happen much, in terms compared to the US or Australia. Then again, I can't say much. I want my future truck for going around NZ to be a hummer!!
I guess a truck like that would be usefull though, with the heafty cameras he uses, mounting one on the back of a truck like that would make things alot easier. And if it was somehow covered, it would make for a very nice portable filming unit.

This is what I call a storm chase vehicle
Its called the TA-1 Tornado Attack Vehicle.

This vehicle was 10 years in the making. Steven Green, autoracer turned storm chaser, drove through the eye of an F4 tornado in the TA-1 in Kansas last week and survived.
