Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

I have put up a message on the sticky/faults etc

Does anyone else on this forum have trouble with slowness?
I do
It is annoying.
I have no trouble with anything else on my computer except for this forum :(

I think it's when there's several people on the site - I've noticed it slower than usual on these occasions.

I've noticed at home on Paradise cable that the DNS look up's (the time it takes the browser to get the address for the templeton.gen.nz server) are very slow at times.

Depending on the browser you use this lookup message may be displayed but on IE it hides everything it's doing.

Once it's figured it out the IP address, the forum is quite snappy.

try http://66.70.230.232/forum and see if it's faster.

Sorry John, I haven't noticed a slowdown recently even with over 6600 posts in the database. The server is shared with other websites so it's possible that they have also been busier when you were using it.

This might also have been the cause of the downtime on Wednesday. I didn't notice it until lunchtime but the webhosting support folk didn't take long to sort it out after I reported it.

I've sometimes had a strange problem with IE where it's slow or times out after it's launched from a link in an email.

Cheers

It's a wee bit better this evening.
It was that when I clicked onto the back button, I was staring a grey screen for about a minute or so before the previous message came up, also getting a message saying my time up after posting?

I have never seen that message. Looks like you may have a corruption.
