I just read on Teletext that Some place in Peru has just seen some snow fall, a couple of days worth of snow. Apparently it has not snowed there for 20 years. Said something about the warm moist air from the equator combining with the cold from the deep south (is that warm advection snowfall?). Not sure how much snow or to what levels (the article may have said something but my memory isn't that great so i don't know) I read this a few hours ago and when writing this i'm second guessing everything i read. So maybe a little chinese whispers happening.
It'd be nice if some of that sort of weather could make it's way to NZ shores.

I just did a search on Yahoo News, ("rare snowfall" Peru) and it came up with an item describing how the first snowfall in the Peruvian city of Cuzco (about 2800 metres asl) for about 20 years had stranded over 2000 tourists.
Could easily happen here (it has already, a few weeks ago in the Southern lakes area). Not from that storm though - weather systems change alot as they travel around the globe. (eg a very cold southerly outbreak in eastern Australia doesn't always lead to a similar icy blast in NZ)It'd be nice if some of that sort of weather could make it's way to NZ shores.
