No heavy rain up here in the BOI today. Steady rain, but nothing special. Currently (17:52) 9 deg C and a gentle 14km/h wind.

latest met service weather warning:
The low responsible for the heavy rain is expected to continue to
deepen to the east of the North Island today, bringing widespread
southwesterly gales to much of the North Island. The East Coast from
Gisborne to Wairarapa is expected to bear the brunt of the strong
southwesterlies, with severe gusts of 140 km/h possible, especially
about exposed coasts. Also, the Bay of Plenty, central North Island
high country, and Wellington can expect possible gusts to 120 km/h
later today through to early Thursday morning. The southwesterlies
are expected to ease over the North Island during Thursday morning as
the low starts to move away towards the east.
These strong winds have the potential to cause damage to trees,
powerlines and some buildings and also make driving conditions
hazardous.

Michael must be delighted as the wind is a South Westerly.

Winds are peaking here in the last hour now
regular gusts to 47 knots, very high average of 39 knots at times.
Barometer starting to rise a little bit.
A good SW gale ,but nothing to get too excited about
(but its not over just yet by the looks)
i notice from the data reports from around the NI that the windspeeds have not reached quite as strong as first forecast.
