In the rare times I watch the weather on TV nowdays, this evening I saw TV3's weather just to see how things are especially when TV3 is supposed to have a new high-Tec weather format away from the bimbo-y weather girl scenario?
How come... on TV3 the human that was reading the weather said it was going to get down to 8c for Christchurch when earlier he mentioned that the current temperature for Christchurch was 5C. I went out and has a look and it was 6C.
Surely if people are going to believe the weather forecasts, they should be made out to be more accurate when quoting figures.etc

Re: How Come ...
I'm beginning to think that TVNZ and TV3 view the weather as simply filler material so they can shoehorn in a few more commercial breaks before everybody turns off their sets when the rest of the night's braindead lineup begins. Nobody who takes weather seriously could get it so wrong so consistently.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:In the rare times I watch the weather on TV nowdays, this evening I saw TV3's weather just to see how things are especially when TV3 is supposed to have a new high-Tec weather format away from the bimbo-y weather girl scenario?

I agree! One night they said "and currently this evening it's clear and calm in Dunedin with 8C"... it was 6C and rainingNZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Surely if people are going to believe the weather forecasts, they should be made out to be more accurate when quoting figures.etc

Seems like the news media have a tendency to open their mouths before checking what they've said or written is true. Or sometimes they may tweak the facts to make a story more sensational. Like the example (as I put in another thread) where last weekend, what probably was a dump of hail was reported as snow on Te Mata peak near Havelock North.

They Did It Again
I watched TV3 weather at about 6:25pm and they did it again.
They said that the current temperature for Christchurch was 9C when they said, (also TVOne) said that Christchurch's maximum for today was 8C.
I recorded 10C, so that much confuse everybody???
