Probably southerly air forced up Cook Strait and around the high as a light SW :?:

i know that mt egmont/taranaki can create an eddie in a SE flow...
but there is also a trough area over the auckland area,.,,..i.e cold easterly at the surface undercutting a upper level warmer northerly flow ....so it might be part of that differing circulations.////

i didnt know the satellite sent the pictures with the landcare log on them, LOL

actualy, I used to have GMS-5 receiver and dish....
8)

(its now obsolute becuase of the internet)
