Thunderstorms, Upper NI, Sept 28th-30th
Still some weak showers around in the left over SW this morning!
Front coming through tomorrow looks to have a thunderstorm risk with it for many western and northern parts of the country. I would give it a 3 out of 5 at this time on the ts chance scale for Auckland.

Re: Unsettled Period Late September 2009
Why havent M/s Included Auckland in the Thunderstorm outlook?
Its kind of clear that it is coming that way.
I would give a link back to M/s But the website is down.

I think its because the front wasn't expected to reach Auckland before midnight - the time the chart is valid until.Tornado Tim wrote:Why havent M/s Included Auckland in the Thunderstorm outlook?

Re: Unsettled Period Late September 2009
what the hek is up with the metserivce website? i have not been able to get onto their website since since yesterday around midday. Last night i couldnt. Still cant today. All i hope is that they are putting the Mahia Radar online and thats why the site is currently down while they update the system.

I would love to see an active Front like this one come through at night ( lightning photography), hopefully we do before the Spring is finished.

Re: Unsettled Period Late September 2009
I'm wondering whether there are tstorms on the warm front as well spwill. The timing of the cold front tomorrow looks around the middle of the day. It would be nice if the passage was delayed a bit.

Re: Unsettled Period Late September 2009
Well as expected the front died of all thunderstorm activity around the Western edges of the Waikato.
Tgsnoopy and all other people in the Tauranga area will be rather pleased with this:
My forecast atm is only outlining possible storms but it is looking better for the eastern coast.

Still no class 6 memory cards for HD recording, sigh. Slowest delivery from Deal Extreme I've ever had, so HD Video on the new camera is still not an option (If it's really good I'll go buy one at the ridiculously inflated NZ Pricing).
Fingers crossed we'll get some action this time.

Are these thunderstorms the length of the country arriving? How wide and apart are they?
