I actually think its pretty unlikely that you will get a good dump in Chch John, it just doesnt look like quite the right combination of temperature and moisture patterns. A few flakes yes, a good dump in Methven or Hanmer, yes, but probably not in Chch. I may be wrong though :)

I wasn't particulary referring to Christchurch, Tony, but one or two areas around the province should get a good fall.

Local freezing levels always drop in heavy precipitation and there should be some good Cb moving up the East Coast tomorrow.

A lovely clear night here in Omarama. Not a cloud in the sky.

Clear sky in Omarama usually means gales for us

Still snowing here. :)
Yes, it looks likely to be a good dump before it clears up in the morning.

No snow in Amberley for the last few hours, and none settled either. In fact, driving into Chch earlier this evening (and back again) the snow was only lying from just north of Belfast into the city, and the depth definitely increased the closer I got to the Port Hills.

It is still sowing here, looks likely now to be a good dump before it clears up in the morning.
Just come back from checking the screen.
Zero degrees now and it;s still snowing.
Can't read the raingauge as it is covered with snow,
5cm in the back-yard

Beautiful fine day here in Omarama. A couple of small fluffies floating around, but otherwise clear blue skies. "Spring is in the air..."
