Gentle sea breeze is making the temperature level off here already, only risen 0.2 in the last 35 mins.
I am wondering when my weather station will ever record a scorcher!
Yes, the sea breeze will moderate land temps, at my location on a light wind day sea breeze convergence can keep the cooling affect out until mid afternoon hrs but we get the Cu line overhead.
got to 27.7C today and the dew point at 20. no wonder it was hot. A thermometer in the milk room tonight was reading 30. this room is very cool and damp. ITS HOT!!!!!!
The cloud finallly cleared for a while today and it got very hot. Up to just over 19C today. How can one live in heat this so hot
Not lasting long as the southerly is due back later this week.
Well that was certainly the warmest night of the season yet.. not quite sure of the minima around here but inside @ 11pm it was still sitting on 27º.. stupid me had the place wide open until I went to lock down for the night & find it full of click bugs!
My heart goes out to the farmers (and around here) that really need some sort of precip, but im loving this weather right now.

I thought it was longer than that! Almost seems like a week to a week and a half. Having a look at this January at the moment the mean temperature is down 3 degrees on 'Jan 09'.

Humid 24c here,NE now,has blown all the needles across into the mesh totally brown along the length, probably it will take off when the wind blows harder.Rain looks imminent tonight now, should get some up north provided it goes NE.
nice to see some action (anyaction will do) weather moving in here (but still been nice to have had some nice warm humid sunny weather too!)
got that rain look about it at the moment!

That seems very high, is that accurate? Fine day here, morning coastal cloud cleared and a fine afternoon. 23 degrees in my neck of the woods with a light NE

well thats the rain by the looks. not even a drop has fallen. i do see some beefy showers are just comming onto the radar now though so still some chance. will have to hope to catch a thunderstorm tomorrow.
Few drops of rain on the eastern side of the house and thats about that! Roughly an hour ago there was some patchy mammatus overhead which has also long gone, gut is telling me that there wont be much hope for any decent falls out of this so might have to open up the tap & pump up yet :/

Yes Leighton it is,i had a good discussion with Nev last summer about the accuracy of my recording set up and he felt it was largely well set up, but then at the time i had bare ground in and around under the thermometer, that is now fully grassed.
Your questioning my recordings is so typical of Canterbury plains people (i used to be one 10 years ago)who have simply no idea of the extremes of inland North Canterbury, because the low cloud that has influenced your weather for so long now often doesn't make it this far in land and also given the NE air stream over the country today has been blowing from areas around inland Marlborough you're saying that it shouldn't be that high??? And after all is nothing to what it normally get to.
I see that Masterton had the national high of 29C,where was Culverden today??? 5 C less than me ??its only 15km from me,but hey i've already proven that the recording station has been faulty in the past and have no faith in its recordings
I am getting a little bored of this low crud latly too, it was very nice to feel the sunshine today however it returned after 3pm .
The next few days will be more muggy especailly tomorrow with 24C the high and scatterd showers.
Well, we moved from Canterbury last Saturday to Carters Beach. The sun has hit, the kids are sunburnt and windburnt and we have been to the beach every day. Summer has arrived - and all I had to do was drive over the Alps . Right now, the wind is increasing in force, very warm northerly, only three or four raindrops so far tho. we did have a bit of rain on Sunday nite - enough to know that the gutters need to be cleaned out. I am anticipating the purchase of a weather recording station in the near future. PM me with details of what you think is best. I will try to keep you all updated with weather from the west.
