After having a chat with NASA's Modis team they have made a NZ subset for the MODIS images
Anyone who looks at NASA's Modis site would have noticed that it is hard to get a picture of NZ as a whole.
Now all you need to do is visit this site: http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subs ... NewZealand to get a pic of NZ as a whole in hi-res!
These images are truly fantastic as you can zoom up heaps when you step into 250m pixel resolution!
A very big Thank you to the Team at NASA who provide these hi-res images free of charge and being so kind as to add NZ as a subset!
Thanks Tim, there is something peculiarly satisfying about being able to identify a particular individual cloud on a satellite image and think, yes, I saw that one up in the sky earlier on.

They update 1ce a day. But there are 2 satellites the Terra 1 and Aqua 1, The terra satellite passes through first then the AQUA satellite later on.
The Aqua satellite is the 1 to look at if you want to see thunderstorms developing
