Possible T-storms, Upper NI, 6th April, 2010
Hmmm At this point I am thinking its a "One Clap Wonder" setup.
The upper air looks a little stable for my liking.
But none the less a risk for Waikato, Tauranga, parts of Aucky/Northland.
You can see on the Skew-T that if any t-storms/showers develop they will have a lowish base to them.(They wont be high based storms)

With an upper trough/cold upper air in place over the upper North Island the thunderstorm risk for the Waikato/BOP looks fairly high this afternoon. Looks like there should be some low level convergence to trigger a few thunderstorms. I would say the chances for Auckland are low. Upper Northland should catch some activity.

I think the low is going to roll over the top of the auckland area and the S to SE fow in behind will dry out quick over the NI land mass
so the auckland area i think will not see any more rain from this system
with a strong high and ridge coming in, its back to drought conditions!

Yes, need a good period of widespread rain rather than hit/miss showers
Some towering Cu in our skies this afternoon, a pleasant 22C Dp 16C.
Some thunderstorm activity over the central North Island currently

can see some nice CB's going up in the waikato
SSW wind here now, so no chance of them coming up this way I would say
looks like the area just north of the bay of islands is getting a nice band of rain at the moment

Looked like a strong storm Otorohanga way. I was working on the Northshore and could see the cb tops from there. Static on the am band about every 5 seconds!

I notice some convection/glaciated tops just out to the NW of Auckland as well. Looked to have formed on the SE change.

It was a 6.30pm ob Tim. Today looks to have been the best set up for inland storms since the late January events.
Could be the last of the summer?

It looked good Brian but did absolutely nothing.. it was moreso over Bombay & the other side, Tim wasnt far off the mark, it wasnt a 1 clap wonder, rather 3 lol.. precip all around but not even enough here to wet the ground let alone anything else.'Noticed the glaciation up there too, looked pretty cool.

I went down to Bombay late day, Cbs produced a norrow strip of heavy rain across the top of the Bombays, plenty of water for some but yes dry for most.
