Hello all!
I am trying to find information/find out how to get information on the weather system that came through NZ over a month ago. I am doing a favour for a friend at work and am looking for what the weather was like in Wanganui on the 18th of September, in parricular around wind speeds for the day (gusts, etc)...METARS somewhere? (I would need some help reading them! )
Hmm... looks like gale-force NW'ers that day along with rain.
This Wunderground WS about 7 km SE of Wanganui might be of some use. It's a little higher than the town and mean-winds may be 1-minute averages?
Theres's also a NIWA monitored EWS at Wanganui's Spriggens Park and although winds there didn't seem quite as high as the airport, gusts were near 80 km/h late morn, early arvo.
Below are hourly 10-minute average winds from MetService's Wanganui Aero site c/o NIWA/CliFlo (no gusts sorry)...
In the sunday paper(next day) says flooding in marton which is about 25kms from Wanganui, the Chronical paper there on the 25th said 17/24 days it rained there, with 179.6mm in september to the 24th if much help..
