TV pictures suggest up to 1m of snow has fallen in Northumberland and 60-80cm on the higher ground of the Peak District and the Pennines, above say 200m.
Very cold in the Glens of Scotland o/night with minimum temperatures of -21.1*C at Altnaharra, -16.8*C at Aviemore, -16.1*C at Dalwhinnie and -15.2*C at Loch Glascarnoch. Forecasters are predicting record minimums in this area in the next couple of nights, with lows of -25*C to -30*C expected.
