Looks showery with possible pm thunder inland North Island all week on the gfs! Cold 700mb temperatures. The set up looks like a typical non severe popcorn cb type set up.
West Auckland may catch a heavy shower tomorrow off the sea breeze convergence.

whats all the talk about anticyclonic gloom on TV1 weather...when it was high cloud junk left over from a trough in the tasman, instead?

The high level cloud junk moved east over night so there will be better sunshine/ ground heating today over the inland ranges for the shower development later.
Lovely sunny morning here, sunny 20C, dp 15C.

It really goes to show that Weather presenters don't know much about the weather, they just talk about it for the Job.....
A pitty really, Weather presenters should be passionate about the weather.

Yes, I think the Summer season is running early however we have not had the really humid weather arrive yet, todays dewpoint was around 15C, I see the Greylynn max was 25C.

The last 2 summers have lacked humidity so we are due for it this summer.

The normal T-max for NIWA's Mangere site is 19.4C, and its highest ever daily Nov T-max (from 1959) was 26.7C in 1963. Interestingly it recorded 23.6C yesterday, compared to Akld Aero's 22.1C.
Late Nov 2010 and 2008 saw quite a few Akld sites recording temps around 26/27C, including Akld Aero's and Pukekohe's highest Nov temps of 25.6C and 25.8C respectively in 2008.
NIWA's Henderson River Park observer recorded 28.3C in 1988. And NIWA's Pakuranga ARC/Watercare site recorded 30.5C in 2009, although that reading looks a little dodgy.

Yes, either NW or NE.
Looks like they only use Akld Aero for Akld's TV-temps now, which is often the coolest of MS's 4 online sites, i.e. yesterday Ardmore recorded 24.9C, while Whenuapai and Whangaparaoa were around 24C.
I got to 25.1C yesterday btw.

They showed 24 as Auckland's high on TV3

Oops.
One News also had 24C last night. Must just be Akld Aero and Whangaparaoa then?

Akld Aero, Ardmore, Whenuapai and Whangaparaoa , all these locations are out on the fringes of Auckland.

Yeah, they need a station in Auckland domain or some other park in central Auckland. In fact, maybe I'll ask them why there this is not the case myself...
